Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in nursing or equivalent.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Minimum of 9 years appropriate or recognizable nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
• At least 5 years of the 9 years experience must be appropriate or recognizable experience after obtaining the one-year post-basic qualification in the relevant speciality.
• Post-Basic qualification with a duration of at least 1 year in Curative Skills in Primary Health Care accredited with SANC.
• Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal frameworks (Nursing Act, OHSA, Patient's Rights Charter, Batho Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, Grievance Procedures).
• Leadership, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Interpersonal skills including public relations, negotiating, conflict handling, and counselling skills.
• Financial and budgetary knowledge pertaining to relevant resources under management.
• Computer skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provision of advanced or more complex primary curative health.
• Continuous evaluation of nursing care and nursing services.
• Involvement with matching research to the needs of the community.
• Work effectively and amicably, at a supervisory level with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences.
• Provide a safe and therapeutic environment to practice safe nursing care.
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance in terms of Employee Performance Management Development System (EPMDS).
• Ensure the effective management of complaints.
• Ensure quality data management.
• Ensure proper utilization of all resources and exercise care over government property.
• Facilitate the realization and maintenance of ideal clinic program.
• Deal with disciplinary and grievance matters including monitoring and managing absenteeism.
• Participate in operation sukuma sakhe.
• Support PHC re-engineering by ensuring that outreach teams are functional.
• Implement and monitor all relevant legislation frameworks and prescripts.
