OPERATIONAL MANAGER NURSING (NAASFARM CLINIC)

Job Overview

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health is seeking an Operational Manager Nursing for Naasfarm Clinic in Dannhauser. The successful candidate will facilitate comprehensive primary health care services, manage clinic operational plans, supervise nursing and support staff, and ensure adherence to Batho Pele principles and national health standards. Requirements include a R425 nursing degree/diploma, a post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care, current SANC registration, and a minimum of 9 years of appropriate nursing experience. The position offers a competitive salary package ranging from R720 819 to R821 454 per annum plus benefits.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• At least 5 years of the required experience must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the one-year post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care.
• Grade 12 (Senior Certificate), Standard 10, or National Certificate.
• Basic R425 qualification i.e. Degree/Diploma in nursing or equivalent qualification allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Post-Basic qualification with a duration of at least 1 year in Curative Skills in Primary Health Care accredited with SANC.
• Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Primary Health Care nurse.
• Knowledge of Nursing care processes and procedures, Nursing Acts, Health Act, Nurses Pledge, Patient's-Right charter, and Batho Pele principles.
• Knowledge of HR, Finance, Skills development, Labour Relations, and Public Service legislative frameworks.
• Leadership, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Computer skills in basic programmes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate provision of a comprehensive package of services at PHC level including priority programmes and Quality Improvement Programmes.
• Develop Clinic Operational Plan, monitor implementation, and submit progress reports.
• Participate in the implementation of the nursing plan, clinical practice, and quality patient care.
• Participate in clinical audits in the facility and ensure implementation of quality improvement plans.
• Implement standards, practices, criteria, and indicators for quality nursing.
• Provide direct and indirect supervision of all nursing and housekeeping staff and give guidance.
• Ensure continuity of patient care on all levels including work books, handovers, and rounds.
• Ensure effective and efficient utilisation of human, material, and physical resources.
• Render health services in the community by implementing Community Oriented Primary Care.
• Ensure Batho Pele principles, National Core standards, and ideal Clinic priorities are implemented.
• Provide safe therapeutic environment allowing for safe nursing care as laid down by the Nursing Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Compile monthly, quarterly statistics and other reports.
• Manage records and data performance information within the subdistrict.
