Job Overview

Wesfleur Hospital under the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services is hiring two Nursing Assistants (Grade 1 to 3) for Maternity/Neonatal care. Grade 1 requires no experience, Grade 2 requires 10 years, and Grade 3 requires 20 years of nursing experience after SANC registration as a Nursing Assistant. Candidates must be willing to work shifts, night duty, weekends, and overtime. Duties include providing basic nursing care, implementing care plans, resource utilization, and promoting QA, IPC, and OHS.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
• Registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant.
• Grade 1: None experience.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant.
• Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after-hours, night duty and weekends.
• Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs.
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook).
• Knowledge of Basic Nursing Care principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
• Skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, function within the multidisciplinary team and facilitate on the level of the post.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provision of basic nursing care by assisting patients with activities of daily living (physical care).
• Ensure implementation of basic nursing care plans and effective communication.
• Effective utilisation of resources.
• Promotion of QA, IPC AND OHS within the department.
• Maintain professional practice and ethical conduct and self-development.
