Job Overview

George Regional Hospital is hiring three Nursing Assistants (Grades 1 to 3) within the Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services for Family Medicine. Candidates must hold a qualification allowing SANC registration as a Nursing Assistant. Experience ranges from none for Grade 1, to 10 years for Grade 2, and 20 years for Grade 3. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, providing elementary clinical nursing, and utilizing resources effectively. Shift work, night duty, weekends, and overtime are required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
• Registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant (or proof of application and payment for first-time registration).
• Grade 1: None required.
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Nursing Assistant.
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Nursing Assistant.
• Willingness to work shifts, night duty, weekends, public holidays, and overtime.
• Willingness to rotate within the hospital.
• Ability to function and make decisions independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Good communication and interpersonal relationships.
• Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation, policies, and protocols of the Department of Health, Western Cape.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care).
• Provide elementary clinical nursing care.
• Ensure effective utilization of physical and financial resources.
• Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.
