MEDICAL OFFICER GRADE 3: EYE CARE

Job Overview

King Nyabela Hospital (Middelburg Hospital) in the Nkangala District is hiring two Medical Officer Grade 3 professionals specializing in Eye Care. Candidates require an MBChB degree, current HPCSA registration for Independent Practice, and at least 10 to 11 years of post-registration experience. Responsibilities include patient management at a level 2/3 facility, clinical audits, academic participation, and supporting hospital management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• MBChB degree (qualification) that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice)
• Valid work permit required for non-South Africans
• Sound knowledge of medical ethics
• Multidisciplinary management and teamwork experience in the respective medical discipline
• Knowledge of current Health and Public Service regulations and policies
• Skills in consultations, history taking, examination, clinical assessment and clinical management
• Grade 3: A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice)
• A minimum of eleven (11) years relevant experience after registration with a recognised foreign health profession council and / or the HPCSA for foreign qualified employees
• Sound clinical knowledge, competency and skills in general clinical domains
• Good communication, leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills
• Ability to manage patients independently, diligently, responsibly and engage when necessary
• Ability to teach and guide junior staff within the department

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute duties and functions with proficiency to support the aims and objectives of the Institution consistent with standards of patient care
• Accept responsibility for the management of patients admitted in a level 2/3 package of service facility
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of guidelines and protocols
• Participate in academic and training programmes
• Assist with clinical audits and actively participate in continuous professional development
• Provide support to hospital management towards maintaining an efficient standard of patient care and services
