Job Overview

The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government is advertising a Farm Aid position for Farm Services in Outeniqua under reference AGR 35/2026. The salary ranges from R144 024 to R169 656 per annum (Level 02). Candidates must possess an ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent, along with competencies in farm infrastructure maintenance, general farmwork, and livestock care. Responsibilities include crop production support, livestock health care, waste disposal, and infrastructure upkeep. Requirements & Qualifications

• Abet level 2 certificate or equivalent
• Knowledge and understanding of farm infrastructure construction and maintenance
• Knowledge of general maintenance of infrastructure
• Knowledge of general farmwork
• Knowledge of working with farm animals and pastures
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle and carry weights of up to 50 kg
• Numeracy and literacy skills
• Driving skills
• Ability to operate equipment

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform general activities in respect of crop production including irrigation of crops, soil cultivation and preparation (cleaning and hoeing)
• Perform general activities in respect of livestock including care for sick livestock, dipping, vaccination and dosing
• Perform general facility activities including cleaning of facilities and disposal of farm waste material
• Perform general activities in respect of infrastructure including maintaining and building roads, fences, pipelines, canals, dams, drinking troughs, animal housing, and buildings
• Maintain windmills and water supply systems
