Job Overview

Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital is hiring a Facility Information Officer within the Management Information Services component on a permanent basis (Salary Level 07). Responsibilities include coordinating data collection, ensuring data accuracy and quality, compiling statistical reports, supporting routine health information systems like DHIS and TIER.Net, and supervising staff. Applicants must possess a National Diploma or Degree in IT, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, along with relevant data management competencies and proficiency in MS Office.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field
• Appropriate experience in data management and health information systems, including District Health Information System (DHIS) and Routine Health Information Systems (added advantage)
• Training and/or previous experience in TIER.Net and/or EDRWeb data capturing and reporting (added advantage)
• Certificate in MS Office or demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office package
• A valid driver's license
• Knowledge of health information systems and data-management principles
• Ability to collect, capture, validate, analyse and report health information
• Strong communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
• Sound organizing, planning and analytical skills
• Technical knowledge in the information Technology Environment

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Co-ordinating and managing the collection of quality data and the maintenance of Institutional Health and Management Information at the facility
• Collecting, capturing, validating, analyzing and interpreting facility data
• Ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of information submitted through relevant health information systems
• Monitoring data quality and identifying discrepancies for correction
• Compiling monthly, quarterly and annual statistical reports
• Providing information to hospital management for planning, monitoring and evaluation
• Providing advice to ward managers and Heads of departments with regard to health information and data management systems
• Monitoring facility performance indicators against targets
• Preparing statistical tables, graphs and presentations
• Conducting data audits, data-quality assessments and monitoring visits
• Supervising and training staff
• Maintaining and providing technical support to all routine Health Information Systems
