ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (PRODUCTION) GRADE A: MAINTENANCE

Job Overview

The Provincial Office in Mbombela (Nelspruit) is hiring an Electrical Engineer (Production) Grade A: Maintenance. Responsibilities include developing technical norms, investigating service delivery mechanisms, designing electrical installations, overseeing construction, and conducting research. Requirements include an NQF Level 7 in Engineering, 3 years post-qualification experience, current ECSA registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer, a valid driver's licence, and knowledge of relevant public sector legislation such as the PFMA and OHS Act.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• NQF Level 7 qualification in Engineering as recognized by SAQA
• A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
• Current registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Electrical Engineer
• A valid driver's licence
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Practice Notes, Instructions, and Circulars
• Knowledge of Provincial and Departmental Supply Chain Management Policies
• Knowledge of the National Building Standards Act of 1977 and Regulations
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations
• Knowledge of the Government Immovable Asset Management Act of 2007
• Knowledge of the Health Act and Regulations
• Knowledge of the Engineering Profession Act of 2000

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Development, interpretation and customisation of functional and technical norms and standards from an engineering perspective
• Investigate proposals for innovative service delivery mechanisms and undertake feasibility studies
• Compile briefing documentation and specifications from an engineering perspective
• Investigate electronic and electrical engineering installations and equipment, undertake design work and implement corrective measures
• Oversee implementation (construction) and commissioning of electrical engineering installations
• Conduct research and literature studies to keep up with new technologies, viability and feasibility of geographical information management options for the Department
• Interact with relevant professional development boards and councils
