EDUCATION PSYCHOLOGIST (GRADE 1) LSPID: INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

Job Overview

The Department of Education is hiring an Education Psychologist (Grade 1) for Inclusive Education at the Chris Hani West District Office. Responsibilities include providing transversal outreach services, assessing learners with severe to profound intellectual disabilities (LSPID), offering therapeutic interventions, training teachers and caregivers, and monitoring learning programmes. Requirements include an appropriate qualification, current HPCSA registration as an Educational Psychologist, a valid driver's license, and advanced computer skills.

• Proof of HPCSA registration
• Ability to promote inclusive education
• Experience in working as part of a team and collaborating with stakeholders
• Ability to take initiatives, work under pressure and problem-solve
• Valid driver's license
• Advanced computer skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members in the provision of support to designated schools and care centres on an itinerant basis
• Assessment of LSPID enrolled in the schools and care centres
• Provision of relevant therapeutic intervention to learners and families
• Monitoring and reporting on learners' progress
• Training caregivers on the learning programme for LSPID
• Monitoring and reporting caregivers' implementation of the learning programme for LSPID
• Training and supporting teachers on the learning programme for LSPID
• Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the learning programme in designated schools and care centres
• Advocating for access to quality public funded education for LSPID
• Carrying out administrative functions related to the support provided and ensuring placement
• Provide support to other learners in the community as and when needed
