DRIVER/MESSENGER: WORK ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

The Department requires a Driver/Messenger at Head Office in East London (Reference: DHS11/09/2026) offering a salary of R201 093 per annum (Level 04). Candidates must possess an NQF level 2 qualification with no experience required, alongside a valid driver's licence with a PDP. Key duties involve rendering transport and driving services, ferrying employees, transporting materials, conducting vehicle maintenance checks, completing logbooks, and performing messenger and clerical duties while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Requirements & Qualifications

• NQF level 2 as recognised by SAQA with no experience.
• Valid drivers licence with PDP.
• Knowledge of Road traffic laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of government transport policies and procedures.

• Vehicle maintenance and safety knowledge.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Render transport and driving services.
• Ferry employees to various destinations.
• Transport material and equipment.
• Apply road safety and precautionary measures.
• Complete logbooks and trip sheets.
• Conduct basic vehicle checks and report faults.
• Provide transport administrative services including closing daily and weekly kilometre readings.
• Complete vehicle logbook and trip authorisations.
• Consolidate monthly vehicle returns.
• Load and offload goods and equipment.
• Submit accident reports.
• Inspect motor vehicles and report defects.
• Login calls to Government Motor Financial Services (GFMS) for vehicle service, repairs and maintenance.
• Clean and lubricate machinery equipment and book vehicles for wash and cleaning.
• Render clerical support and messenger duties such as sorting, arranging, collecting, and distributing correspondence.
• Record and control correspondence and ensure recipient signatures in delivery registers.
• Safekeeping of logbooks, petrol cards, and trip authorisations.
• Deliver documents between head office, sister departments, and institutions.
• Ensure parcels and files are properly sealed and addressed while maintaining government information confidentiality.
