DIRECTOR: MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING

Job Overview

The National Treasury is hiring a Director: Management Accounting in Pretoria. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (NQF 7) and at least 5 years of senior managerial experience in financial management. Key responsibilities include overseeing budget management, asset management, financial reporting, policy development, and compliance with the PFMA and Treasury Regulations. Candidates must also complete the Nyukela SMS pre-entry programme before appointment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree (equivalent to NQF level 7) in Accounting
• Minimum of 5 years of experience at a middle or senior managerial level obtained in a financial management environment
• Knowledge of the broader public service policy framework on financial management processes and procedures
• Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme prior to finalisation of appointment

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and streamline processes within the section in the compilation of Monthly Reports, Annual Reports, MTEF, ENE, Adjusted Estimates, and Rollovers
• Coordinate changes to the drawing schedules between budget and expenditure business units
• Oversee the execution of the Budget Committee, its secretariat and other functions
• Engage and coordinate correspondences with public entities
• Maintain oversight over the Fixed Asset Register for compliance
• Ensure compliance with the requirements of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, interim financial manual, and Accounting Officer's Procurement Procedures
• Implement corrective measures regarding audit findings
• Manage the activities of the department's financial reporting including annual and interim financial statements
• Develop and review financial management policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with relevant regulations
• Initiate training and awareness of financial management policies and processes
