DIRECTOR: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

The department is seeking a Director: Information and Communication Technology Management based in Durban. The role requires an NQF Level 7 qualification in IT or Information Management Systems, backed by 5 years of relevant middle or senior management experience and the Nyukela Public Service Pre-entry certificate. Key responsibilities include managing IT services, information systems, support services, information resource centres, and human and financial resources. Candidates must possess extensive knowledge of ICT governance frameworks, public service legislation, and demonstrate strong leadership and strategic planning skills.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Applicants must be in possession of a Degree or NQF Level 7 as recognised by SAQA in Information Technology and Information Management Systems.
• 5 years relevant middle/senior management experience in IT and IMS environment.
• Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service Pre-entry programmes as endorsed by NSG.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of the Constitution of the RSA.
• Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations.
• Knowledge of Promotion of Information Act.
• Extensive knowledge of Global Information Technology process.
• Knowledge of SITA Act.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software, computer operating system, and Archives Act.
• Public service knowledge of COBIT, ITIL and ISO, and IT guidelines.
• Strong strategic planning, computer, time management, analytical, technical expertise, facilitation, presentation, management, communication, assertiveness, negotiation, decision-making, and networking skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure the provisioning of information technology services, equipment and software programs in the department.
• Ensure the provision of information system requirements in the department.
• Ensure the provision of information management support services in the department.
• Establish and maintain information resource centre in the department.
• Manage effective and efficient utilisation of human and financial resources of the directorate.
