DEPUTY DIRECTOR: TOURISM INTEGRATION

Job Overview

The Department of Tourism is seeking a Deputy Director: Tourism Integration based in Pretoria (Reference: DT46/2026). The role requires an NQF 7 qualification in Tourism Management or a related field, along with 5 years of experience including 3 years at a supervisory level. Responsibilities include implementing national tourism policies, managing strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagements (such as in transport and creative industries), conducting research, and overseeing budget and personnel management. The position offers an all-inclusive remuneration package on Level 12.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate NQF 7 qualification in Tourism Management or related qualifications.
• Five (5) years’ experience in tourism management field of which three (3) years must be at a supervisory level related management.
• Understanding of the PFMA.
• Ability to interact with High levels stakeholders.
• Understanding of tourism trends and government policies.
• Sound understanding of the NDP and NTSS.
• Project Coordination, Communication, Financial Management, Change Management and People Management and empowerment experience.
• Honesty, Integrity and good Interpersonal Relations.
• Negotiation Skills, Tact and Diplomacy.
• A valid driver’s licence (Persons with disabilities that prevent them from driving will still be considered).

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Implementing national policy, strategy and plans for tourism management in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Providing policy and strategy alignment of the Department’s priorities with those of stakeholders.
• Facilitating synergy in programmes of Department and those of stakeholders.
• Establishing effective collaborations, partnerships, and tourism relations with stakeholders.
• Developing reports on the implementation of agreements to advance issues of tourism in identified priority areas such as Transport and Creative industries.
• Ensuring the mainstreaming of tourism in the transport sector and developing intervention programs for the creative industry.
• Conducting research and analysis on identified priority areas to enable effective integration and unlock tourism competitiveness.
• Formulating and managing the component’s budget against strategic objectives and monitoring expenditure.
• Coordinating memoranda of understanding, service level agreements, and project expenditures.
• Providing leadership, managing the performance of subordinates, and contributing to the strategic direction in the Directorate.
