DEPUTY DIRECTOR: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety is hiring a Deputy Director: Supply Chain Management (Ref No: POCS 15/2026) based in the Western Cape with an all-inclusive salary package of R932 292 per annum. Applicants must hold an NQF level 6 qualification and have at least 3 years of middle management experience. Key responsibilities include managing contract and demand management, acquisition management, logistics, disposal and asset management, subdirectorate performance, people management, and financial management. Shortlisted candidates will undergo pre-entry assessments and vetting.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate qualification at NQF level 6 (equivalent or higher)
• A minimum of 3 years’ middle management experience
• Working knowledge and understanding of legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices bearing on line functions
• Knowledge of information systems aiding knowledge and information management
• Knowledge of project management and operational management practices
• Understanding of procurement and tendering processes
• Knowledge of policy development, operational management, monitoring and review processes
• Familiarity with modern systems of governance and administration
• Understanding of public finance, human resources, and discourse management processes
• Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, financial policies, prescripts, directives, and collective agreements
• Skills in numeracy, computer literacy, language, project management, accounting/finance/audit, budgeting and financial management
• Competencies in communication and information management, continuous improvement, citizen focus and responsiveness, diversity management, impact and influence, planning and organising, problem solving and decision making

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the functional operation of Contract and Demand Management
• Manage the functional operation of Acquisition Management
• Manage the functional operation of Logistics, Disposal and Asset Management
• Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Subdirectorate
• Perform people management duties
• Perform financial management duties
