Job Overview

The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety within the Western Cape Government is hiring a Deputy Director: Project Implementation 2 (Ref No: POCS 11/2026). This is a permanent middle-management position with an all-inclusive salary package of R932 292 per annum (Level 11). Candidates must possess an appropriate 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree (or higher) along with a minimum of 3 years of middle management experience. Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 3 years middle management experience
• Working knowledge and understanding of legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices bearing on line functions
• Knowledge of information systems aiding knowledge and information management
• Knowledge of project management, operational management practices, and procurement/tendering processes
• Knowledge of policy development, operational management, monitoring, and review processes
• Knowledge of modern systems of governance and administration, and public service procedures
• Knowledge of regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting the Western Cape
• Knowledge of constitutional, legal and institutional arrangements governing the South African public sector
• Knowledge of public finance, human resources, discourse management processes, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations
• Knowledge of labour relations legislation, regulations, and performance management
• Skills in numeracy, computer literacy, language, project management, accounting, finance, and audit
• Skills in analytical thinking, strategic thinking, policy implementation, and conflict resolution
• Skills in monitoring, evaluation, reporting, presentation, problem solving, research, and networking

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate the initiation, implementation and monitoring of safety programmes, services and partnership initiatives according to the Western Cape Strategic Framework (safety plans)
• Manage stakeholder relationships for the support and effective functioning of safety partnerships
• Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Sub-directorate
• Manage records and information
• Manage people and human resources
• Manage financial resources
