DEPUTY DIRECTOR: FLEET RISK MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

The Western Cape Mobility Department is seeking a Deputy Director: Fleet Risk Management (Ref No: WCMD 84/2025R1) based in the Western Cape. Offering an all-inclusive salary package of R932 292 - R1 098 195 per annum (Level 11). Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B Degree (equivalent or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 3 years middle management level experience
• A valid code B (or higher) driving license (People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply)
• Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act 1 of 1999)
• Knowledge of National Treasury Regulations and Provincial Treasury Instructions
• Knowledge of Handbook for Government Motor Transport (Circular 3 of 2019)
• Knowledge of National Road Traffic Act, 1996 and National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000
• Knowledge of National Traffic Information System (NaTIS)
• Knowledge of Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act, 1998 and Regulations
• Proven computer literacy (MS Office suite)
• Proactive action thinking, leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Planning, organizing, and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interpret relevant directives and policies

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage GMT self-insure risk strategy
• Manage crashes, 3rd party claims and recoveries
• Manage vehicle related losses and fraud investigations
• Manage traffic offence redirections and misuse reporting
• Manage the driver database, and review and approve driver sanction requests and cross border letters as fleet proxy
• Perform human resource management functions
• Manage budget for Fleet Risk Management
• Prepare input for statutory reporting
