DEPUTY DIRECTOR: CRIME PREVENTION PARTNERSHIPS

Job Overview

The Department is seeking a Deputy Director: Crime Prevention Partnerships based in Bojanala with a total package of R1,101,468 per annum (Level 12). Candidates must possess a Grade 12 certificate plus a 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, LLB, Development Studies, Policing, or Community Development, alongside 5 years of relevant safety and security experience including 3 to 5 years at a junior management level. A valid Code EB driver's licence is required. Responsibilities include developing crime prevention strategies, enhancing safety programmes, building public-private partnerships, and managing resources.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• Three (3) year National Diploma or Degree (NQF level 6/7) in Social Sciences, LLB, Development Studies, Policing, and Community Development
• Five (5) years relevant work experience within a safety and security environment
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience at a junior management (Assistant Director) level
• Valid Code EB (08) Driver's License
• Knowledge of the Integrated Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy
• Knowledge of the White Paper on Safety and Security
• Knowledge of the SAPS Act and Civilian Secretariat Act
• Knowledge of the Public Service Act and Regulations, and Public Service Code of Conduct
• Understanding of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA) and Intergovernmental Relations Framework Act
• Skills in community mobilisation, stakeholder management, coordination, facilitation, and negotiation
• Programme and project management skills
• Computer literacy including Microsoft, Excel, and PowerPoint

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and review community outreach programmes
• Enhance the quality and accessibility of safety programmes
• Encourage dialogues on safety and crime prevention
• Initiate and coordinate crime prevention programmes
• Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of Provincial Crime Prevention Strategies
• Promote community participation in crime prevention initiatives
• Coordinate the development and evaluation of safety models
• Promote community-police relations
• Establish, monitor, and enhance community safety structures
• Establish and promote public-private partnerships
• Manage key performance responsibilities of staff
• Monitor and report on sub-directorate resources and support expenditure budget compilation
