Job Overview

Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services is recruiting three Clinical Nurse Practitioners (Primary Health Care) at Grade 1 and Grade 2 levels across Saxon Sea CDC (X2) and Protea Park CDC (X1). Applicants must be registered with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and possess relevant post-basic qualifications in Clinical Nursing Science or Primary Care Nursing along with appropriate nursing experience. Responsibilities include managing curative programmes, child health, women's health, and HAST services.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
• A post-basic qualification, with a duration of at least a 1-year diploma, in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care, accredited with the SANC (R48) OR a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent, and a postgraduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Primary Care Nursing.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1 Experience: A minimum of 4 years of appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Grade 2 Experience: A minimum of 14 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing, with at least 10 years after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or postgraduate diploma.
• Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
• NIMART training or experience.
• Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).

• Effective execution and assistance with the management of relevant Curative Programmes within the scope of practice.
• Act as an advocate for the patient to ensure the provision of necessary health care.
• Effective execution and assistance with the management of relevant Child Health services within the scope of practice.
• Effective execution and assistance with the management of relevant Woman’s Health Services within the scope of practice.
• Effective execution and assistance with the management of relevant HAST (HIV, AIDS, STIs and TB) programmes.
• The effective provision of high-quality services measured by outcomes of all quality assurance activities.
