Job Overview

Dr Malizo Mpehle Hospital in the OR Tambo District is seeking a Clinical Manager. The role involves managing clinical and administrative support services, ensuring compliance with health standards, clinical auditing, budget monitoring, and supervising junior medical staff. Applicants must hold an appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner, along with a minimum of three years of appropriate experience as a medical officer. Essential competencies include strategic leadership, financial management, and knowledge of key health legislation.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as a medical officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as National Health Act, Mental Health Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Service Act and related regulations and policies.
• Competencies: Strategic capability and leadership, Program and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, People Management and Empowerment, Service Delivery Innovation, Knowledge Management, Problem Solving and Analysis, Communication, Client Orientation and Customer focus.
• A valid driver’s licence.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Management of clinical services in the entire hospital in accordance with departmental standards, including after hours as delegated.
• Participate and accountable for assisting in leading and managing the hospital clinical services.
• Maintain accurate health records in accordance with legal ethical considerations.
• Train and guide staff and health associated professionals in morbidity and mortality reviews.
• Attend and participate in continuous medical education and quality improvement programs.
• Ensure that cost-effective service delivery is maintained within the respective department.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and manage the efficient and effective delivery of clinical and administration support services.
• Present the Hospital authoritatively at provincial and public forums.
• Ensure compliance with National Core Standards requirements or any other regulatory and/or statutory requirement.
• Conduct regular clinical audits and develop, implement and monitor action plans.
• Develop, monitor and analyse budget and financial information and utilize resources efficiently.
• Compile medical reports and give evidence at trials, when required.
• Manage Performance and Development (PMDS) and perform quarterly reviews of subordinates.
• Train, develop and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate junior doctors.
