CLINICAL MANAGER

Job Overview

The Eastern Cape Department of Health is seeking a Clinical Manager at Nessie Knight Hospital, OR Tambo District. The position offers an all-inclusive flexible salary package ranging from R1 479 723 to R1 640 055 per annum under OSD guidelines. Applicants must possess an appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner, along with at least 3 years of appropriate experience as a medical officer post-registration. Key responsibilities include managing clinical and administrative support services, ensuring compliance with National Core Standards, financial and budget management, clinical governance, and supervising medical staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner
• Registration with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner
• A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as a medical officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as National Health Act, Mental Health Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Service Act and related regulations and policies

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Management of clinical services in the entire hospital in accordance with departmental standards, including after hours as delegated
• Participate and account for assisting in leading and managing hospital clinical services
• Maintain accurate health records in accordance with legal and ethical considerations
• Train and guide staff and health associated professionals in morbidity and mortality reviews
• Attend and participate in continuous medical education and quality improvement programs
• Ensure cost-effective service delivery is maintained within the respective department
• Plan, direct, coordinate, and manage efficient and effective delivery of clinical and administrative support services
• Present the hospital authoritatively at provincial and public forums
• Determine systems for intradepartmental functions in keeping with hospital policies and communicate them to staff
• Ensure compliance with National Core Standards requirements and other statutory requirements
• Conduct regular clinical audits and develop, implement, and monitor action plans
• Develop, monitor, and analyse budget and financial information, utilizing resources efficiently
• Compile medical reports and give evidence at trials when required
• Manage Performance and Development (PMDS) and perform quarterly reviews of subordinates
• Train, develop, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate junior doctors
