CLEANER: ADMIN SUPPORT SERVICES

Job Overview

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is hiring a Cleaner for Admin Support Services based in the Amathole Region (East London). The position requires an ABET level 4 qualification with no prior experience, along with knowledge of cleaning methods, hygiene practices, and health and safety hazard identification. Responsibilities include cleaning offices, boardrooms, kitchens, and ablution facilities, as well as maintaining equipment. Applications must be submitted via the provincial e-recruitment system.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning material and equipment.
• Knowledge of hygiene, waste management, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to identify and report health and safety hazards.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide cleaning services to office corridors, offices, elevators, and boardrooms.
• Dust and wax office furniture, sweep, scrub, and wax floors, and vacuum and shampoo floors.
• Clean walls, windows, and doors, empty and clean bins, and collect and remove waste papers.
• Provide general kitchen cleaning services including cleaning basins and cupboards, washing and keeping stock of utensils, and cleaning eating utensils for all employees.
• Provide cleaning services to ablution facilities including refilling handwash liquid soap, replacing toilet papers, hand towels, and refreshers, and washing waste bins.
• Maintain cleaning material and equipment, report broken machines, clean equipment after use, request supplies, and safely store cleaning materials.
