CHIEF ARTISAN GRADE A: AUTO - ELECTRICAL

Job Overview

The Free State department seeks a Chief Artisan Grade A: Auto-Electrical based in Motheo. Applicants require Grade 12, a valid driver's licence, a Red Seal Trade Test Certificate in Auto-Electrical, 10 years of artisan experience, and 2 years in a supervisory role. Responsibilities include managing technical services, repairs, diagnostics, staff, and budgets. The salary is R499 470 per annum under OSD. Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license.
• An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) in Auto-Electrical.
• A minimum of ten (10) years' experience as an Artisan and/or Artisan Foreman in the relevant trade.
• Experience in vehicles, heavy vehicle, construction plant, earthmoving equipment or related technical maintenance environments.
• At least two (2) years' experience in a supervisory role.
• Ability to perform duties in offices, workshops, districts and field/operational sites.
• A post-matric qualification will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of project management, technical design, diagnostics and analysis, vehicle plant and equipment auto-electrical systems, and computer-aided technical and diagnostic applications.
• Knowledge of relevant statutory compliance, technical report writing, maintenance and production processes, quality assurance, financial and resource management, people management, and change management.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage technical services and support across fields, workshop, district and technical office activities within the auto-electrical discipline.
• Manage and coordinate maintenance, repairs, inspections, complex diagnostics, technical assessments and operational priorities.
• Ensure quality assurance and compliance with technical, safety, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Manage Artisan Foremen, Artisans and related technical personnel, resources and assets.
• Provide input into technical procedures, operational plans and budgets, and compile technical and management reports.
• Monitor expenditure and promote the efficient utilisation of resources.
• Manage staff performance and development, provide senior technical advice and support, and manage conflict where required.
• Maintain and advance technical expertise and support continuous improvement and the introduction of appropriate technologies.
• Engage formally and regularly with relevant stakeholders and manage stakeholder meetings at technical and district levels.
