Job Overview

Mitchells Plain District Hospital is hiring a Bed Manager within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services. The successful candidate will lead patient flow management, apply information management processes, manage resources with cost containment, and monitor quality assurance. Requirements include an NQF level 7 health qualification, registration with HPCSA, SANC, or SAPC, appropriate hospital and bed management experience, a valid driver's license, computer literacy, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: A health-related qualification at NQF level 7 that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and/or South African Nursing Council (SANC) and/or South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Appropriate experience as a health professional in a hospital setting.
• Appropriate experience in Bed Management processes and administration is recommended.
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s license.
• Computer literacy (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and policy related to bed management within the public sector.
• Ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of standards.
• Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Proven effective communication, interpersonal relationship, leadership, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to function under pressure.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, support and develop the patient flow management of Mitchells Plain Hospital.
• Apply efficient information management processes relating to bed management activities utilizing current health information management systems.
• Participate in training and development of staff and in research activities.
• Utilize and manage resources with a focus on cost containment.
• Manage, monitor, evaluate and report on bed management related quality assurance activities and programs.
