Job Overview

An Assistant Manager Nursing: Clinical Training and Development (PNA7) position is available at the Corporate Office Regional Training Centre. Applicants must hold a Matric, a basic R425 nursing qualification or 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing, SANC registration as Professional Nurse and Midwife, and a qualification in Nursing Education and Management/Administration. Candidates need at least 8 years of nursing experience with 3 years at a management level and human capacity building, along with a valid driver's licence and computer literacy. Responsibilities include managing clinical training programmes, staff development, quality assurance, budgeting, and data management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Matric plus basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent allowing SANC registration as a Registered Nurse in General Nursing, OR a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) allowing SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
• Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing Education and Nursing Management or Nursing Administration, registered with SANC.
• A minimum of 8 years appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse in General Nursing with SANC.
• At least 3 years of the experience must be at management level and human capacity building.
• Valid Driver's licence.
• Computer literacy.
• Facilitation and communication skills (written and verbal).
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of nursing strategy of practice and nursing standards.
• Knowledge of all clinical programmes, including WBPHCOT programme.
• Basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Support clerks to increase their technical capacity in data collection.
• Provide support to Trainers to strengthen monitoring and evaluation components of training programs.
• Ensure consistent and correct use of data tools and monitor data collection, collation, storage, analysis, and reporting for audit worthiness.
• Analyse training reports and address gaps, and collaborate with health and social care teams for clinical training decisions.
• Consult within multi-disciplinary health teams, organizations, and special interest groups regarding community health issues.
• Disseminate guidelines, updates, and developments related to training.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary quality assurance task teams and peer reviews.
• Monitor the Provincial Master training plan and develop quality improvement plans.
• Identify and develop nursing interventions to achieve expected outcomes and analyse post-training evaluation reports.
• Provide management with ongoing comparison of performance outcomes against planned targets.
• Analyse staffing needs, develop plans to meet needs, and allocate nursing personnel across units.
• Monitor PMDS implementation, carry out reviews, and ensure staff professional development and training.
• Deal with grievances, labour relations issues, and workplace discipline.
• Compile and control duty rosters, leave schedules, and attendance registers.
• Monitor and ensure all nurses are licensed to practice.
• Participate in business plan development, identify ways to contain health care costs, motivate for resources, and manage assets.
• Ensure proper budget implementation by monitoring, projecting, and reporting expenditure aligned with strategic objectives.
