ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: SUPPORT SERVICES

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government is hiring an Assistant Director: Support Services (Level 09) within the Western Cape Mobility Department. Candidates require a 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include managing transport services, facility management, occupational health and safety, and Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA) functions. Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Working knowledge of Legislative, Regulatory and Policy Frameworks applicable to support services within the public sector
• Working knowledge of Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA) and related accommodation and asset management prescripts including UAMP
• Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, regulations and departmental health and safety frameworks
• Working knowledge of transport-related prescripts including policies governing management and utilisation of government and subsidised vehicles
• Working knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and relevant financial policies
• Working knowledge of Labour Relations legislation, regulations and collective agreements
• Operational and Management Knowledge
• Numeracy and Literacy skills
• Computer literacy including standard office applications and electronic record-keeping systems
• Language and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Accounting, finance and audit skills including basic budgeting, expenditure monitoring and controls

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Management of Transport Services in the Department
• Promotion of Occupational Health and Safety in the Department
• Provision of Effective and Efficient Facility Management (Accommodation)
• Management of Functions in Terms of the Government Immovable Asset Management Act
• Perform managerial functions
