ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: RISK REDUCTION PLANNING (TYGERBERG)

Job Overview

The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government, is hiring an Assistant Director: Risk Reduction Planning in Tygerberg. Candidates require an NQF level 6 qualification and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Requirements & Qualifications

• A qualification at NQF level 6 (equivalent or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
• Working knowledge and understanding of the Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002) and related policies and guidelines
• Working knowledge of disaster management systems and procedures in all three spheres of government
• Knowledge of project management, operational management practices, and procurement processes
• Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, and financial policies
• Skills in numeracy, computer literacy, language, project management, and accounting, finance and audit
• Skills in disaster risk reduction, data management, crisis management, and written and verbal communication

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of an integrated early warning system
• Support the implementation of special interventions for priority and secondary hazards
• Provide technical support for the implementation and maintenance of early warnings, interventions and risk information systems
• Perform managerial functions
