ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: PROVINCIAL REGULATION ENTITY (EDEN)

Job Overview

The Western Cape Government Mobility Department is hiring an Assistant Director: Provincial Regulation Entity in Eden (Ref: WCMD 43/2026). The salary ranges between R487 197 and R573 897 per annum (Level 09). Applicants must possess an appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification and at least 3 years of relevant supervisory experience. Key responsibilities include managing operating license issuance, handling enquiries and complaints, stakeholder liaison, reporting, and general managerial functions aligned with transport legislation and public service regulations. Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 3-years relevant experience at supervisory level
• Knowledge and working experience in implementing legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices relevant to line functions
• Knowledge of information systems supporting knowledge and information management
• Knowledge of the Public Service Act, 1994, Public Service Regulations, 2016, National Land Transport Act, Road Transportation Act, and Western Cape Road Transportation Amendment Law Act
• Knowledge of financial processes in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
• Ability to operate and manage the Public Transport Regulation System (PTRS) and LTPS/NTIS
• Strong computer, numeracy, literacy, project management, and reporting skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the issuing of operating licenses in the region
• Manage enquiries and complaints
• Liaise with different stakeholders in the industry
• Ensure accurate Reporting, Analysis and Record Keeping
• Perform managerial functions including financial management, human resources, and performance management
