ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: LABOUR RELATIONS

Job Overview

The North West Provincial Government is hiring two Assistant Directors for Labour Relations based in Mahikeng Head Office, offering a salary of R487 197 per annum. Candidates must possess a Matric certificate, a National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Labour Relations, Labour Law, or Industrial Relations, a valid driver's license, and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years at a supervisory level. Key duties include investigating grievances and misconduct, conducting disciplinary hearings, representing the department at conciliations and arbitrations, advising management, and managing unit performance.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) certificate or equivalent
• National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree (NQF 6/7) in Labour Relations, Labour Law, or Industrial Relations
• Valid driver's license
• 3 to 5 years relevant working experience in the field of Labour Relations
• 2 years of experience at a Supervisory level (Salary Level 7/8)
• Thorough knowledge of Labour Legislations, Acts, Public Service Policies / Regulations, and Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to develop and interpret policies
• Computer literacy in Microsoft packages
• Research, conflict resolution, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and report writing) skills
• Analytic investigation and presentation skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate and investigate grievances
• Investigate misconduct and conduct disciplinary hearings
• Represent the employer at conciliations and arbitrations
• Represent the department at Collective Bargaining structures and at the Provincial Labour Relations Forum
• Compile various Labour Relations reports
• Advise management on Labour Relations issues
• Manage strike management processes
• Manage the performance of personnel within the unit
• Drive capacity building in the department
