ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: JOB DESIGN AND SERVICE DELIVERY INITIATIVES

Job Overview

The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government, is hiring an Assistant Director: Job Design and Service Delivery Initiatives on a salary level 09. Applicants must possess an appropriate 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree in fields such as Industrial Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Social Sciences, or Public Management, alongside a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and a valid driver's licence. Key responsibilities include delivering work organisation capacity services, transversal job design, organisational alignment, managerial functions, and service delivery improvement initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Social Sciences, Humanities, Industrial Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Public and Business Management Science or related
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
• A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence (People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply)
• Knowledge of organisational performance related to organisation development
• Knowledge of appropriate job evaluation systems
• Knowledge of organisation development theory, practice, and techniques regarding organisation design, process development, and improvement
• Knowledge of project management, research methods, and statistics
• Knowledge of national and provincial instruments and legislation pertaining to human resources, financial management, and supply chain management
• Strong communication, analytical, numerical, and computer literacy skills

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver departmental work organisation capacity services by diagnosing organisational challenges and supporting improvement through organisation design, job design, process improvement and change interventions
• Deliver transversal job design services by designing and evaluating jobs, applying the prescribed job evaluation system, and ensuring consistent job grading practices across government
• Perform managerial functions including planning and managing work, supervising staff, monitoring performance, and managing resources in line with governance requirements
• Deliver on transversal organisation design and alignment by designing and aligning organisational structures, mandates, and operating models to support strategic priorities
• Deliver on transversal service delivery initiatives by supporting and coordinating service delivery improvement initiatives, assessments, and reporting
• Deliver a practice enablement and development service by developing and enabling organisation development practice through policies, frameworks, methodologies, and tools
