ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: DEMAND MANAGEMENT

Job Overview

An Assistant Director: Demand Management position is available at Head Office under reference 32/2026/2027 with a salary of R487 197 per annum (Level 09). Candidates must possess a Matric and a Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or Financial Management, coupled with at least 5 years of SCM experience including 3 years at a supervisory level and a valid driver's licence. Key responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, managing the Central Supplier Database, developing and implementing demand and procurement plans, managing specification committee meetings, and overseeing team performance. Requirements & Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12
• Appropriate bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Supply Chain Management (SCM), Logistics Management, or Financial Management
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in Supply Chain Management
• Three years of Supply Chain Management experience on a supervisory level
• Valid Driver's licence
• Knowledge of Walker financial management system or BAS
• Knowledge of legislative framework governing SCM and procurement business
• Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles and Public Service Regulations Act
• Advanced computer literacy and leadership abilities
• Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Sound analytical, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong planning and coordination abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and extended hours to meet deadlines

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct total needs assessment within the Department
• Manage implementation of Central Supplier Data Base
• Conduct market, industry and commodity analysis and compile report for approval
• Conduct trainings to all end users in relation to compilation of Demand and Procurement Plans for the Department
• Compile memo to all End Users for submission of annual needs
• Manage needs assessment performance in accordance with the framework
• Compile, develop, maintain, and implement Demand Management and Procurement Plan for the Department
• Implement Departmental Supply Chain Management policies and legislative frameworks
• Ensure determination of specifications requirements are linked to the strategic Plan and budget of the Department
• Perform membership position in Specification committee meetings
• Manage Key performance areas of team members
• Be involved in the budget projection of the unit
• Compile Bid files for all procurement plan projects
• Compile report progress of procurement plan on monthly and quarterly basis
• Perform any task delegated by the supervisor
