Job Overview

The Office of the Chief Justice is hiring a Vetting Investigator based at the National Office in Midrand (Reference: 2026/126/OCJ). The role requires an NQF level 6 qualification in Social Science, Security Management, Criminology, Police Science, or related fields, alongside two years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include conducting vetting investigations, compiling reports, conducting interviews, and performing company screenings. The salary ranges from R338 106 to R398 277 per annum. Requirements & Qualifications

• National Diploma in Social Science, Security Management, Criminology, Police Science or related qualifications at NQF level six (6) as recognised by SAQA.
• Two (2) years’ experience in the relevant field.
• Vetting Course from SSA, DI and SAPS will serve as an added advantage.
• Knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Minimum Information Security Standard (MISS), National Vetting Strategy, Public Service Act, National Strategic Intelligence Act, Protection of Information Act, and Protection of Personal Information Act.
• Skilled in computer literacy, report writing, research, planning, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Gather all relevant documents and information, conduct proper analysis and quality checks on information.
• Conduct vetting investigations in respect of confidential and secret level.
• Compile and submit reports to management and National Intelligence Agency on all vetting files and reports completed on daily basis.
• Contact subjects and references in order to schedule interviews and ensure all nine vetting factors are adequately addressed.
• Compile vetting investigation reports outlining findings and recommendations and administer vetting investigation files.
• Submit completed Vetting Investigations to the Vetting Manager/ Supervisor for quality control.
• Conduct company screenings and ad-hoc investigations as requested by the Vetting Manager.
• Conduct verification of company information using various sources such as MIE checks and SARS.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of developments in vetting to assist in policy development and provide advice on legislation, policies, and procedures.
