SENIOR REGISTRAR (MEDICAL) (CLINICAL HAEMATOLOGY) (2 Year Contract)

Job Overview

A 2-year contract position for a Senior Registrar (Medical) in Clinical Haematology is available at Tygerberg Hospital, Parow Valley. Candidates must possess an appropriate qualification and independent practice registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine or Hematopathology. Responsibilities include completing the Cert Clinical Haematology, participating in clinical and academic activities, maintaining medical and chemotherapy records, and conducting relevant research towards an MPhil in Haematology with Stellenbosch University. Commuted overtime is compulsory.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine or Hematopathology
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine or Hematopathology (Independent Practice)
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver's license
• Willingness to work commuted overtime and after hours
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week)
• Registration with Stellenbosch University as a postgraduate student (MPhil Haematology)
• Good communication skills and ability to cope in a busy clinical environment
• Experience in Haematology
• Previous research experience and attendance of Haematology workshops or conferences

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Successfully complete the Cert Clinical Haematology (Phys/Path) (SA) including logbook requirements of the College of Medicine and mandatory laboratory training
• Participate fully in clinical and academic activities of the division
• Maintain accurate medical and chemotherapy records
• Conduct research in Haematology relevant to the South African context
• Successfully complete the MPhil (Haematology) degree
