SENIOR FORESTRY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Job Overview

The Department is seeking a Senior Forestry Development Officer based in Kimberley, Northern Cape, offering a salary of R413 001 per annum. Candidates must hold an NQF6 National Diploma in Forestry, Development Studies, or a related qualification, along with at least two years of experience in forestry development or extension. Key responsibilities include providing technical advice on greening programs, supporting livelihood and enterprise development initiatives, ensuring sustainable forest management under relevant environmental legislation, mitigating audit risks, and managing provincial stakeholder liaison. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively are required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• National Diploma (NQF6) in Forestry / Development Studies or relevant qualification within the related field as recognised by SAQA.
• A minimum of two (2) years' experience in Forestry Development and Forestry extension or related field.
• Knowledge of the National Forest Act 1998 (Act 84 of 1998), the National Veld and Forest Fire Act, 1996 (Act 101 of 1996), PFMA, and other related environmental legislations.
• Good presentation skills, excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, programme and project management.
• Good interpersonal relations and negotiation skills.
• Computer skills MS Office Software.
• A valid driving license and must be willing to travel extensively.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and support in terms of greening programs or initiatives for institutional development.
• Render support on the implementation of livelihood development programs or projects.
• Render support on the implementation of forestry enterprise development initiatives.
• Ensure the implementation of Sustainable Forest Management in line with National Forest Act and National Veld and Forest Fire Act.
• Proactive mitigation of audit risk, develop and implement interventions.
• Stakeholder Liaison within the Province.
