Job Overview

A Security Officer position is available across Mpumalanga and Limpopo under reference BC15/2026 with a salary of R170 226 per annum. Candidates must hold an NQF level 3 qualification and a PSIRA Certificate. No prior experience is required, but knowledge of access control, CCTV operation, and emergency procedures is essential. Duties include performing access control, building patrols, operating control room equipment, and managing incident registers.

Requirements & Qualifications

• NQF level 3 qualification
• Private Security Industry Regulations Act (PSIRA) Certificate
• No experience required
• Knowledge of access control procedures
• Knowledge of measures for the control and movement of equipment and stores
• Knowledge of prescribed security procedures (e.g., MISS, NISA, Protection of Information Act)
• Knowledge of relevant emergency procedures and security processes
• Knowledge of Departmental & Public Services prescripts
• CCTV operation skills
• Ability to work long hours voluntarily
• Ability to gather and analyse information

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform access control and ensure unauthorised persons and dangerous objects do not enter the building or premises
• Perform proper lock up for all offices and access points
• Operate and monitor control room security equipment and access control movement screens
• Ensure safety in the building and premises
• Undertake building and premises patrols to check passages, toilets, and ensure no official is locked inside
• Identify and check fire hazards, exposed electrical contacts, and hazards from chemicals
• Apply emergency procedures during situations like bomb scares or riots and alert emergency services and management
• Provide receptionist services and issue visitor stickers
• Ensure occurrence and other registers are kept up to date and incidents are reported to supervisors
