Job Overview

Requirements & Qualifications

• Security Grade C or above
• PSIRA certificate
• No previous experience is required
• Knowledge of control and access to public premises Act 53 of 1985
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
• Knowledge of MISS
• Knowledge of PSIRA Act 56 of 2001
• Knowledge of emergency procedures in the workplace

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform access control functions including determining visitor appointments and services required
• Contact relevant employees to confirm appointments or refer visitors to service delivery points
• Complete or ensure admission control documents and cards are handled as required
• Escort visitors to relevant employees or venues where required
• Operate X-ray machines where applicable
• Lock and unlock entrances
• Identify suspicious conduct and ensure unauthorized people and dangerous objects do not enter buildings or premises
• Follow-up incidents and record all occurrences in books or registers
• Ensure safety in buildings and premises through patrols checking doors, water leaks, fire hazards, and electrical contacts
• Apply emergency procedures during situations like bomb scares and riots and alert emergency services
• Ensure assets do not leave or enter unauthorized by checking pass-outs and inspecting vehicles
• Gather information and report on missing and stolen equipment and stores
• Handle documents at points of entry according to classification and prescripts
