Job Overview

Swartland Hospital in the West Coast District is hiring a Registrar (Medical) in Family Medicine on a 4-year contract with a salary of R 1 041 402 per annum plus compulsory commuted overtime. Applicants must hold an appropriate qualification allowing HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner for Independent Practice, possess a valid driver's license, and have computer literacy and previous South African Health Services experience. Responsibilities include clinical service provision, teaching, research including an MMED mini dissertation, and clinical administration. Applications must be submitted online.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice).
• A valid (code B/EB) driver’s license.
• Willingness to work overtime (compulsory commuted overtime).
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet research).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal and time-management skills.
• Previous experience in South African Health Services.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Clinical service provision, including participating in community-orientated primary care activities.
• Participate in the Teaching program, including in-service capacity building of staff and supervision of health sciences students.
• Research and Professional Development (incl. completion of MMED mini dissertation).
• Effective Clinical Administration in patient records and patient reports as part of the leadership and clinical governance activities.
