Job Overview

Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Rondebosch, Western Cape, is hiring two Diagnostic Radiographers across Grades 1 to 3. Responsibilities include providing paediatric radiographic services, performing CT scans, digital radiography, fluoroscopy, and maintaining equipment. Applicants must hold an appropriate qualification and registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer. The position requires working 40 hours per week, including after-hour services, weekends, and night duty rotations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
• Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography for RSA qualified employees, or 1-year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for SA qualified employees, or 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA for SA qualified employees, or 21 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Render 40 hours per week which includes after-hour services on weekends and night duty rotations as determined by the department.
• Adhere to all departmental requirements and protocols.
• Knowledge of radiation protection, quality assurance and equipment safety.
• Knowledge of Digital Radiography imaging modalities and medical imaging workflow.
• Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to perform effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Comply with National Core Standards requirements.
• Knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide a radiographic service for paediatric patients and produce diagnostic images of high quality.
• Provide optimal patient care.
• Perform Imaging of paediatric patients in specialized areas.
• Perform CT Scan imaging, Digital Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Theatre, DR Mobiles, Panorex Imaging and Lodox.
• Ensure optimal use and care of equipment and perform daily quality checks.
• Participate in personal, departmental and hospital in-service and training programs.
• Provide relief duty in the absence of colleagues and provide support to the supervisor.
