Job Overview

Knysna Hospital in the Garden Route District is seeking two Professional Nurses (Grade 1 to 3) in General Nursing to work in the Female/Child Ward, Trauma, and OPD. Requirements include a Diploma or Degree in Nursing, registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, and varying experience levels from 0 to 20 years. Responsibilities involve clinical patient care, supervising nursing plans, resource management, and participating in training and research. Candidates must be willing to work shifts, night duty, and rotate across institutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, OR a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Grade 1: None; Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC; Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC.
• Willingness to work shifts, night duty, overtime, public holidays, weekends, and rotate to other wards.
• Basic Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Ability to function independently and in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies including Health Care 2023 and Sustainable Development Goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of the nursing plan (clinical practice or patient care).
• Implement standards, practices, criteria, and indicators for quality nursing.
• Practice nursing and health care in accordance with laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care.
• Maintain constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
• Utilize human, material, and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
• Participate in training, development and research within the nursing department.
• Provide support to nursing services.
