Job Overview

Murraysburg Hospital in the Beaufort West Sub-District (Central Karoo District) is hiring Professional Nurses Grade 1 to 3 in General Nursing. Candidates must hold a basic R425 nursing qualification or 4-year Bachelor Degree and be registered with SANC. Experience ranges from none for Grade 1, to 10 years for Grade 2, and 20 years for Grade 3. Responsibilities include clinical nursing care, supervision, resource utilization, and supporting nursing services. A non-pensionable rural allowance of 12% applies.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse, OR a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Experience: Grade 1 requires none; Grade 2 requires a minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration; Grade 3 requires a minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration.
• Willingness to work shifts, night duty, overtime, public holidays and weekends.
• Basic Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Ability to function independently and in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies including Health Care 2023, and Sustainable Development Goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of the nursing plan (clinical practice or patient care).
• Implement standards, practices, criteria, and indicators for quality nursing (quality of practice).
• Practice nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care.
• Maintain constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
• Utilize human, material, and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
• Participate in training, development and research within the nursing department.
• Provision of support to nursing services.
