Job Overview

Khayelitsha District Hospital under Metro Health Services is hiring Professional Nurses (Grade 1 to 3) for the General Medicine Male Ward. Applicants must possess a basic R425 nursing diploma or degree, or a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing, and be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Experience requirements range from none for Grade 1 up to 20 years for Grade 3. Responsibilities include providing optimal holistic nursing care, resource utilisation, and supporting nursing services.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse or 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Experience: Grade 1: None; Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration with SANC; Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with SANC.
• Willingness to work shifts, day & night duty, weekends, public holidays, and overtime to meet operational requirements.
• Willingness to rotate to other wards when required.
• Knowledge of good governance principles and documentation practices.
• Commitment to providing empathetic, holistic care and advocating for patients.
• Capability to handle a demanding clinical workload with effective time management, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
• Proven ability to work within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and families.
• Clinical skills and experience.
