Job Overview

Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory is seeking a Principal Housekeeping Supervisor. The role involves managing hygienic standards, supervising EHS and agency staff, overseeing waste management, and performing personnel administration tasks. Candidates must have a Grade 12 certificate, relevant experience in cleaning and contract management, and proficiency in MS Office and Clinicom. The position requires shift work and strong knowledge of HR policies and disciplinary procedures. The successful candidate will ensure cost-effective cleaning services and effective stock control.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Senior certificate (grade 12 or equivalent).
• Appropriate experience in Cleaning, Contract Management, Waste Management, and personnel/office management.
• Must be willing to work shifts.
• Computer literacy (MS Word and MS Excel).
• Knowledge of Cost Centre Requisition System (Health Technology - Clinicom Production).
• Knowledge of HR Policies and Disciplinary Code and Procedure.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage hygienic responsibilities within allocated areas.
• Supervise allocated EHS staff and contractors.
• Manage waste disposal processes.
• Provide safe, cost-effective, and optimal cleaning services.
• Supervise agency staff according to contract terms.
• Perform personnel administration duties including allowances, pay sheets, and leave applications.
• Support the Administrative Officer with recruitment, selection, and staff performance reviews.
• Attend meetings and monitor staff registers.
• Manage effective stock control and ordering of cleaning supplies.
