Job Overview

Metro Health Services is seeking an Occupational Therapy Technician (Grade 1 to 2) at the Metro TB Hospital Complex. Candidates require an appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapy Technician, current HPCSA registration, and knowledge of the PSR model, mental health, substance use, and TB. Grade 1 requires no experience, while Grade 2 requires a minimum of 10 years of appropriate experience. Responsibilities include contributing to occupational therapy interventions, assisting occupational therapists, executing clinical admin tasks, and ensuring professional development.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapy Technician.
• Current registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapy Technician.
• Grade 1 Experience: None after obtaining an appropriate qualification or prescribed in-service training.
• Grade 2 Experience: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience after obtaining an appropriate qualification or prescribed in-service training.
• Knowledge and understanding of PSR model, mental health, substance use, and TB.
• Computer literate.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Contributes to Occupational Therapy Intervention through planning, implementing and evaluating specified activities.
• Assists Occupational Therapist with OT Intervention and programmes in specified OT Area.
• Execute delegated admin tasks related to clinical service as well as departmental requirements.
• Ensure continued professional development by keeping abreast with the latest developments in the field.
