Job Overview

Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services is hiring two Nursing Assistants (Grade 1 to 3) to be stationed at Elsies River CHC and Morning Star CDC in the Western Cape. Responsibilities include providing elementary clinical nursing care, assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety. Requirements include a qualification allowing SANC registration as a Nursing Assistant, appropriate experience ranging from 0 to 20 years depending on the grade, and flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
• Registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
• Experience for Grade 1: None after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
• Experience for Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Nursing Assistant with SANC.
• Experience for Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Nursing Assistant with SANC.
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary, shifts, public holidays, night duty, after hours and weekends.
• Prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to enhance patient care through the implementation of SOPs, policies and guidelines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide elementary clinical nursing care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living which includes patient hygiene, provide nutrition, assist with mobility and elimination processes.
• Monitor patient vital signs and report any abnormal findings.
• Reporting on patient safety and adverse incidents.
• Effective utilization of resources.
• Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
• Actively participating in in-service training interventions.
