Job Overview

Valkenberg Hospital under Metro Health Services is advertising three Nursing Assistant positions across Grades 1 to 3 for state patients, male high care, and ward 2 male pre-discharge. Candidates must possess a SANC-aligned nursing assistant qualification and relevant experience ranging from none for Grade 1 up to 20 years for Grade 3. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily activities, providing elementary clinical nursing care, and resource utilization. Willingness to work shifts and rotate is required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
• Grade 1: None experience required.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
• Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after hours, night duty and weekend cover for nursing.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed.
• Willingness to rotate to other wards and departments when required.
• Good interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel & Outlook).
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Care Act, Child Care Act, Nursing Act and other relevant legislation.
• Knowledge and experience of Community Mental Health at Specialised Hospital level.
