Job Overview

The Northern Cape Department of Health is seeking two Medical Officers (Grade 1-3) to be based at Kenhardt CHC & Keimoes CHC in the ZF Mgcawu District. Candidates must hold an appropriate qualification allowing HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner and possess a valid Code B/EB driver's licence. Responsibilities include patient diagnosis and treatment, managing clinical services, supervising junior staff, and ensuring comprehensive clinical records. Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
• Grade 1 Experience: None after registration as Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA in respect of SA qualified employees, or 1 year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with HPCSA for SA qualified employees, or 6 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 3 Experience: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with HPCSA for SA qualified employees, or 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver's licence.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Interview, examine, investigate, diagnose and oversee the treatment of patients.
• Handle chronic medical ailments/conditions, medical, surgical, obstetrics and gynecological emergencies, HIV and TB patients, sick children, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal patients in the Trauma & Emergency Unit.
• Ensure comprehensive clinical record keeping.
• Manage clinical services and supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns and community service doctors).
• Develop systems for appropriate levels of care, referral pathways, and a seamless and integrated service delivery system.
