Job Overview

Ermelo Hospital in the Gert Sibande District is hiring a Medical Officer Grade 3. Candidates require an MBChB degree, valid HPCSA independent practice registration, and at least 10 years of post-registration experience. Responsibilities include patient management in a level 2/3 facility, clinical audits, protocol implementation, and participation in academic and training programmes.

Requirements & Qualifications

• MBChB degree allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice).
• Valid work permit required for non-South African citizens.
• Sound knowledge of medical ethics.
• Multidisciplinary management and teamwork experience.
• Knowledge of current Health and Public Service regulations and policies.
• Additional experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, Anaesthesiology, Urology and ENT will serve as recommendation.
• Skills in consultations, history taking, examination, clinical assessment and clinical management.
• Grade 3: A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice).
• A minimum of eleven (11) years relevant experience after registration with a recognised foreign health profession council and / or the HPCSA for foreign qualified employees.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute duties and functions with proficiency to support aims and objectives of the institution consistent with standards of patient care.
• Accept responsibility for the management of patients admitted in a level 2/3 package of service facility.
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of guidelines and protocols.
• Participate in academic and training programmes.
• Assist with clinical audits and actively participate in continuous professional development.
• Provide support to hospital management towards maintaining an efficient standard of patient care and services.
