Job Overview

Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services is seeking two Medical Officers (Grade 1 to 3) at Delft CHC. Candidates require an appropriate qualification allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner, alongside relevant experience ranging from none to 10+ years depending on the grade. Inherent requirements include a valid driver's license, willingness to travel, and valid BLS and ACLS certificates. Responsibilities involve holistic patient care, clinical governance, training, and providing outreach services across the Northern/Tygerberg Sub-District.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Grade 1 Experience: None after registration for SA qualified employees; 1 year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees without community service requirements.
• Grade 2 Experience: Minimum 5 years appropriate experience after registration for SA qualified employees; 6 years for foreign qualified employees.
• Grade 3 Experience: Minimum 10 years appropriate experience after registration for SA qualified employees; 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
• A valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel and perform relief duties when required.
• A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
• A valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate.
• Experience in general medical and surgical conditions on Primary Health Care (PHC) level.
• Experience in South African TB and HIV care guidelines, including drug-resistant TB and HIV in children.
• Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Good interpersonal, organisational, and teamwork skills.

• Effective management and utilization of physical and financial resources and clinical governance.
• Training and development.
• Effective data management.
• Ensuring quality of care and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
• Providing outreach services to clinics throughout the Northern/Tygerberg Sub-District, guiding health care colleagues in managing difficult PHC cases.
