MEDICAL OFFICER GRADE 1 TO 3 (ENT) (5/8TH) Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services

Job Overview

Paarl Hospital in the Western Cape seeks a Medical Officer Grade 1 to 3 (ENT) on a 5/8th basis within the Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive Ear, Nose, and Throat care, managing treatment plans, patient records, outreach services, and CPD compliance. Requirements include an appropriate qualification allowing HPCSA registration as a Medical Officer, varying years of experience depending on the grade, a valid Code B/EB driver's license, and ENT procedural skills.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Medical Officer.
• Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA (11 years for foreign qualified employees).
• Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA (6 years for foreign qualified employees).
• Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA for SA qualified employees (1 year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees).
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
• Appropriate experience in Ear, Nose, and Throat.
• Proven experience in procedural skills appropriate to the field of Ear, Nose, and Throat.
• Proven knowledge of public health policies, guidelines and related prescripts.
• Ability to work independently and manage time and administrative tasks effectively.
• Good professional attitude and communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Ear, Nose, and Throat care to patients by diagnosing and treating illnesses and other health conditions.
• Prescribe and manage treatment plans, including medication and therapies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Refer patients to tertiary care or other healthcare providers when necessary.
• Participate in outreach services provided by the Ear, Nose, and Throat department.
• Perform financial management through effective and efficient use of resources.
• Complete required CPD activities to maintain registration with the HPCSA.
• Participate in training and educational programs for healthcare professionals.
• Complete and submit required medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
• Uphold the reputation and integrity of the medical profession.
• Render clinical services across institutions in the Ecosystem as needed.
