MEDICAL OFFICER GRADE 1

Job Overview

The Mpumalanga Department of Health is hiring four Medical Officer Grade 1 positions across Ehlanzeni District, including Tonga Hospital, Mapulaneng Hospital, Matikwane Hospital, and Agincourt CHC. Candidates must hold an MBChB degree and current independent registration with the HPCSA. Responsibilities include patient management, handling medical emergencies, clinical audits, and participating in academic programs.

Requirements & Qualifications

• MBChB degree that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice).
• Ability to work shifts.
• Valid work permit required for non-South African citizens.
• Sound knowledge of medical ethics.
• Experience in multidisciplinary management and teamwork.
• Knowledge of current Health and Public Service regulations and policies.
• Skills in consultations, history taking, examination, clinical assessment, and clinical management.
• No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice) for Grade 1, or minimum of 1-year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute duties and functions with proficiency to support institutional aims and patient care standards.
• Accept responsibility for the management of patients admitted in a level 2/3 package of service facility.
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of guidelines and protocols.
• Participate in academic and training programmes.
• Deal with all medical emergencies.
• Assist with clinical audits and actively participate in continuous professional development.
• Provide support to hospital management to ensure an efficient standard of patient care and services is maintained.
