Job Overview

Swartland Hospital in the West Coast District is hiring a Linen Stores Assistant at a salary of R144 024 per annum. Responsibilities include collecting, delivering, sorting, washing, and packaging hospital linen, as well as assisting with relief driving duties. Candidates must have basic literacy and numeracy skills, appropriate experience, physical fitness, and a valid Code B driver's license.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Appropriate experience.
• Valid (Code B) driver’s license.
• Ability to do physical hard work and stand for long hours.
• Good interpersonal relations with supervisor, colleagues, and the public.
• Ability to function in a group.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to sort and count linen.
• Knowledge of using washing machines and tumble dryers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect and deliver either soiled or clean linen with a trolley from and to wards.
• Empty linen bags, sort, count, and clean the area.
• Load and offload linen bags on and off trucks and pack shelves in the linen bank.
• Package linen for despatching.
• Render a support service to the supervisor and laundry component.
• Assist with relief driver duties when necessary.
• Wash, dry, and iron small quantities of linen, clothing, and other textiles.
